Katherine Froyen Black

Prior to joining the Office of Capital and Forensic Writs, Katherine Black worked in the Capital Habeas Unit of the Office of the Federal Public Defender for the Central District of California as an Assistant Federal Public Defender, where she represented capital and noncapital defendants at all stages of trial, on appeal, and in state and federal post-conviction proceedings.  Katherine has also represented men and women on California's death row in appellate proceedings as an attorney for the Office of the State Public Defender.  Katherine is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and of New York University School of Law, where she was a student in the Capital Punishment Clinic and interned at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia and the Mississippi Post-Conviction Counsel Project.
